Catching Dreams

I spent almost the entire day editing photos from fun outings that I never got to. It was a nice way to distract myself from being so upset about my lack of sufficient financial aid (and the very real possibility that I will, yet again, have to consider taking a year off to earn enough money for college).

One of the photos I edited was from my Indiana visit in March, when some friends and I joined Sandra's husband at the City Methodist church to celebrate him acing the EMT test. Which version do you like better? If neither, what did I do wrong?

Here are a few of my favorite black and white shots of each girl from the past couple weeks (that I've edited in the past 24 hours, anyway).

My ex-classmate and now partner in crime (literally, if you ask J. Imes), Katie, in action.

My fellow brown girl and new model, Abby. I so want to steal her hair. Watch out, guuurl!

The super-adorable and equally sweet Becca, who I hope to work with more. I love meeting people like her!

The ridiculously gorgeous Emily. No one will ever be able to rock that hair accessory the way that she did.

The awesome and adventurous girl I can't believe I didn't meet years ago, Ellen. Do you believe in soul-pals? LOL

And, of course, today's photo. It's just a snapshot of part of our newest dreamcatcher, which I'll be using during this weekend's fun Native-American-inspired photoshoot with, of course, the fabulous Katie Dawes!

I cannot wait for this weekend. Hanging out with my friends has seriously been so much more beneficial to me than they could imagine. I'm going to hate when we all become too busy to have these weekends anymore.

Anyway, time for bed! Goodnight, y'all. :)

Unrelated

Actually, I lie. We are related.
This is half of a really big drawing of my cousins Gabriella and Juliana that I never finished. The pictured half is Juliana. I made the mistake of starting the coloring with her, but then when I finished her eyes, they creeped me out and I couldn't finish the drawing.

Sorry about what looks like grain. It's actually on a textured paper, and that texture was relentless. Grr.

What IS unrelated is July 31st's photo. I evidently did not leave the house that day, so my pic is just an uninspired snapshot of Grandma's fake flowers.

So Here's the Deal

Since I haven't posted in almost a month, yet I've taken my photos every day and have barely edited any, this is what I'm going to do. For the next however-many-days-it's-been-since-my-last-post, I'm going to post my photo of the day along with a day or so from last month. They'll be in order unless there is a reason why I put different days together.

I hope this will work for you all. I just can't sit here and edit something like 40 blog pics when I have almost 100 pictures from paid photoshoots to finish-- and I DEFINITELY don't want to bombard you (and my terrible internet) with that many pictures at one time.

I've been extremely busy for the past month. It seems like I've spent the entire time doing some kind of work on the household's 3 laptops, running to the post office, making runs to Columbus with Grandpa, cleaning/organizing, or some strange combination of the four. On the one weekend I took a break, I did nothing but play brain games to keep my mind strong but myself relaxed. My friends keep e-mailing and facebooking me asking where I've been. It's so sad. Haha

ANYWAY! On to the photos.

July 28:
My best friend in the whole wide world's birthday. Don't remember what the heck I did that day, but I remember seeing this flower and thinking it was in bloom awfully late. I'm no expert on flowers-- in fact, I don't even know what this flower is called--, but I know my cousin had some in her back yard in early July, and they were almost dead when I saw them last. So I felt the need to get a picture of nature's little anomaly.

Today, August 22:
Part of the reason I've been so busy lately is that I've been getting things together for my orientation at Ohio State University. By the way, I WAS ACCEPTED AT OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY! WOOOO!!!! It was my first choice college, but in high school, I was rejected.
Now, I have been accepted into the pre-Visual Communication Design program. Unfortunately, almost every art credit I've earned at Ohio University (note: Ohio U is NOT Ohio State U) was not able to be transferred to OSU, so I have to provide syllabi and photos of everything I've done in those classes. Decided that since orientation is on the 29th, I will take a few photos of those projects each day and post one until I'm finished. Here's the first.

Thank you for sticking with me! I know I've been a bad blogger. :(

Shadow of the Day

Yesterday, I was bored, so I decided to try opposite lighting on a flower in our home that is mysteriously thriving. (It was just a big green half-eaten stem outside, so grandpa brought it in to save it from the deer, and now it's blooming.) First, I shot it with the foyer light on in the background, then I turned on my Promaster flash.

Today, I was strictly in a silhouette mood, but didn't want to go back outside, so again I made use of the foyer light and some *cough* fake *cough* plants. Here's my shot for the day.

The Anticlimactic Return

I've finally edited my blog photos from the past 21 days now that I'm home in Ohio, so here they are. Note, I was without both of my cameras for three separate days, so I do not have photos for those days. On the other hand, there are far more than 21 photos here, so I hope you don't get as tired of looking at them as I am! Lol.

July 3 and 4:
was at my mother's house, so I photographed some of her products. she loves working with glass
Unfinished mosaic table
Candy dish
July 5:
my first ever Railcats game with my awesome friend Liz!

Obviously used the crappy lil Cybershot. lol
July 6 and 7:
went to my uncle and aunt's lakehouse in Michigan. it was amazing.

July 8: forgot silver camera at the lakehouse, forgot nikon in my aunt's car. :(

July 9:
got the nikon back from my aunt, and then we visited a couple of the babies in the family.

July 10:
took some last-minute family portraits of my cousins. shoot seriously only lasted a few minutes, but they were so great. Love those cousins of mine.

July 11:
happy birthday, Aunt Linda and cousin Geri! otherwise, had a beach shoot with the Best family (no, i'm not playing favorites. their name is Best. :D).

July 12 and 13:
generic flower photo days. I'm fairly certain I went to Deep River Water Park one of those days, but I didn't take my cams there for fear of being robbed lol

July 14:
went to my cousin Geri's house with... well, more of my cousins (i'm latin. you'll get used to the million cousin thing LOL) to swim. such lazy little ones!
Ziggy lounging under the table
Juliana doing the same
Gabriella taking a break
Anissa taking a tan.
Obviously, I've started to get bored with plain old editing. Luckily Geri had these lawn ornaments to fulfill my need to play.

July 15:
photoshoot with a new girl named Brandy. she was such a sweetie. :)
July 16:
my cousin Travis's open house. cheers, TJ!
Admiring this boy's freckles while he watched the other children splash about in the pool.
July 17:
left Gary that afternoon.
Thanks for the fun, Aunty Angie.
July 18 and 19:
both cams were packed away while we were exploring Lafayette (namely, while we were looking at homes and finding the good restaurants lol). didn't want anything happening to them while we were at the hotels. no pics for these two days

July 20:
home sweet home! creepy little statues greeted us.

July 21:
very sleepy day. didn't feel like being fancy so snapped the butterflies and went back to my lounging. lol
Yesterday and today:
apartment hunting in Athens. turned out only to discourage me more than i even expected, and now I'm pretty much just at a loss. no idea what i'm doing anymore. on the plus side, i found a really creepy plant to take a pic of, and came across a little statue that's just like one Geri has. it was rather exciting to see.

Pardon my blowouts. Exposing for the shadow doesn't do the highlights any good!

Now that we're all caught up on 21 days (3 of which I will tack on to the end of the year, I assure you), I'm heading to bed. Goodnight, sweethearts!
