Quick "Portraits"

Aka "GAWD, get that camera out of my face!" shots. Hey, had to get at least a few photos before my loved ones leave tomorrow. Weekends pass too quickly. :-(

My baby brother, Louis, sitting in my room wearing my hat and a pair of antique sunglasses on his head for no apparent reason. This is what we do in my household. <3

Khalila sitting on my bed not wanting her picture taken. Again, typical. Even with her face covered, she's beautiful. That jerk. ;D

A Rose On the Grey

We've got another one SOOC! I'm kind of liking this non-editing thing. Especially when I've got a houseful of loved ones. :D Mom, my brother, my aunt, and my best friend are here for the weekend, so I spent the day grocery shopping and cleaning my ridiculous hoarder-haven of a room. This is the result. Hope you like it!

So Far So Good

Interesting wall sculpture at Ohio University's art building, Seigfried hall
The headache is just a headache today, not a migraine, and my prints were all really good today, so yay! Unfortunately, I have an art history midterm today that I am not looking forward to failing. Much too tired and headache too bad to remember anything. Luckily, I don't think my GPA will suffer very much from a less-than-perfect grade. As long as my photography grade is perfect, I honestly don't care.

This is my love, and even when I have bad days, I know I'll still love it tomorrow. <3

Speaking of bad days, here is an edited version of yesterday's photo to hopefully make up a little for the awfulness. Cheers!

Not My Day

Today's uninspired, unedited, uncool photo.
Honestly, today was such a crappy day that I didn't even care enough to take a real photo. There was an odd sort of spotlight look on my blinds, so I said "To Hell with it," and shot. I've had a migraine since I woke up, slept the day away, missed school, and am now going to fail a test tomorrow because I slept away my study hours and felt so defeated that I gave up trying when I could have studied. Aaaand I still have a massive headache, so I'm going to bed. Sorry for the angry rant and 5-year-old quality photo. Maybe tomorrow?

-sigh-

Ziggy, Ley's Guitar

Processed using PhotoTools' "Dirty Money" preset.

Meet Ziggy, my brand new baby. When I woke up this morning, it was the first thing I looked at and for some reason the song Ziggy Stardust immediately got stuck in my head, hence the guitar's new name.

In other news, my Photography teacher has told me that my 5 "midterm" prints are excellent and I have an A thus far. Since only two of us got A's in the entire class, I am really happy. Yay!

Last but definitely not least, a friend from my old digital photography class is on the committee for a women's art appreciation group, and she asked me to be one of the 9 featured artists at the group's Celebrate Women art show and conference, where Justice Yvette McGee Brown will be the keynote speaker. I am so excited!!! It's been a great week.

Now, for good measure, I will share with you a SOOC texture I photographed today in the middle of shooting my guitar. Feel free to use it (and any of my other textures) whenever and however you want. Goodnight!

Makeup

Hey guys! I didn't forget you yesterday. It was my birthday, so I had kind of a busy day, and then by the time I got to take my picture, I was way too tired to edit it. Heck, I was too tired to really try taking a decent photo as it were. I experimented with a few things, but nothing was working out. It would be awesome from where I stood, but missing something in the frame. This is the best I could do.

On the plus side, I finally realized how to make my photos save with the colors they are in Photoshop. I've been so frustrated since I first started shooting in RAW because my photos are missing a lot of the vibrancy they have in my Photoshop.

In other news, I have a new acoustic electric guitar!!! It's a beauty, and its body is slimmer than the average acoustic, which is great for me because I have such short arms and such a large bust. Playing is much more comfortable now! :D Maybe I'll photograph that tonight. ;)

Sow's Ear, Anyone?

I spent the day re-editing photos from an old shoot. By the time I got tired of doing that, I had an absolutely ridiculous time trying to actually TAKE any photos, so I ended up with this sow's ear of a file. Hopefully, I got a silk purse out of it, but I'm still debating.

I attempted to salvage this photo using an "action" (it's actually a psd) Sandra asked me to make for her . She has appropriately named it "She's Blushing", but you'll have to see what the action was intended to look like to understand the name. I'll be uploading the psd to my deviantART account as soon as I get to a place with better internet than mine so that you all can enjoy it too. :-)

Until then, I'll share with you a few of the old photos I've working on. Models are two out of three of my best friends since middle school, Kelly and Khalila. I met them when I was 12, and today I turn 22. Time flies!!!
