Hopewell

Yesterday my grandparents and I went to some park in Newark where there were a group of Hopewell Indian burial mounds. It was quite interesting. I took a few photos of this statue while we were there.

Today, I ran around like a madwoman both during class and outside of it. It got to 100 degrees today, so needless to say I am ready to pass out. My photo for the day is simply a shot of an interesting flower growing on a tree in our yard. Obviously I am favoring the right side this week. lol

Now I shall go attempt to sleep. Tomorrow will be another busy-- if not busier-- day.

A Gift for You

I found an old template I made a couple of years ago and thought I'd share it with you guys, so here it is: Ye Olde Template

Also, check out my awesome friend Natalie's new inspirational blog, Don't Hide Yourself in Regret. She's a real sweetie who managed to go from newbie member of Purdue University's student organization Los Latinos to president of said club in less than a full year. Love her to pieces.

Anyway, I'm feeling pretty down today because my distant cousin and childhood friend, Jose, passed away at the tender age of 23, so I haven't felt like doing much. Decided to just take some photos of the birds from my sofa.

Brunching Finch
Both shots were taken from behind a screen, but it's most visible in the bottom one. I love what the screen did to the bokeh. Kind of fun!

Originally titled "When in Rome" because she happened to match the foliage perfectly, but the computer brought out more yellows than were visually present. Ah well. She's still a cutie.

Before It's Too Late

I wanted to post my photos for the day while they're still fresh in my mind since I keep forgetting to post my pics the day I take them.

Today, I had been taking this photo...
Stand Out
... when I suddenly realized I had a little buddy hanging out right in my lap.

I played with him for a little while before I had the pleasure of capturing this.

Leaving the Nest
I love caterpillars!!!! <3 My day has been made. :)

The Iris

I added the bokeh to spice up a boring little flower photo. Hope you like it! For once, I do. :)

Cool and Warm

Like the weather lately, my photos for today and yesterday change temperatures.

Yesterday:
I decided to take a quick shot of a bush I was practically getting swallowed by while waiting to take my driver's exam. Guess what? GOT MY LICENSE! Whew.

Today:
Didn't really get a moment with my camera to take a decent photo, so while we waited at a stoplight on the way to class, I snapped this. One day, I'll get back into the swing of this photography thing.

Sleep tight, guys!

The N Word

Narcolepsy: My latest diagnosis. Because evidently scoliosis, asthma, fibromyalgia, chronic depression, psoriasis, and anemia (oh, and there are more that I'm forgetting at the moment) aren't enough ailments. At this point, I just want to curl up in my room and cry, but that wouldn't help anything now would it?

As you can probably tell, I'm a bit distracted. Honestly, I don't care about anything anymore. Not classes, not creativity, not food or fun or even photography. I just want some freaking decent sleep and maybe a little bit of memory.

On a less emo note, I'm going to make my first attempt at getting my license tomorrow afternoon. Wish me luck!

Now for what you're actually here for.

Yesterday's photo: Origin
Ever stop and think about where your bottled water really comes from? Just look up.

Today's photo: Over the Shoulder
I honestly didn't feel like taking a photo today, so while I sat in class, I stuck the camera on my shoulder backwards and snapped until I got something other than a big green blob. LOL

Catching up on the weekend

Thursday, May 19:
It was my grandfather's 62nd birthday, but I had to spend it going from classroom to therapy appointments to a sleep study. Still, I managed to grab a quick snapshot of the chocolate flowers on Grandpa's chocolate-frosted chocolate cake. Guess what grandpa's favorite food is. ;)

I also used my webcam to take a terrible snap of what I looked like at that lovely sleep study. Beautiful, yes? LOL

Friday, May 20:
Took a quick pic of the machine all those wires were plugged into. They didn't let me go home until 2!

Saturday, May 21:
I honestly only stepped outside that day to take one snapshot that wasn't even well thought out. I only took the picture because I was rather interested in all the conflicting lines.

Today, May 22:
Still not in the most photographic mood, and again I was noticing a conflict outside my house. This time, there was a conflict between the seasons. Some flowers in my garden looked as though they'd been dried out by the harsh winter, yet they were surrounded by the lush greenery brought about by spring. I just don't get it!

Among the Ivy Leaves

I don't have anything to say today. It's a miracle. lol

The Album

I found this beautiful wedding photo album at Barnes & Noble for $14.99 a few weeks ago, and today I finally took a few pictures of it. One in particular ended up being my favorite, but I edited it two ways and wasn't sure which you would like better.

So I shall give you both instead. Let it fully load and watch closely.

Wishes at Rest

Today I felt like playing with two different methods of color splashing. For this photo, I took one in color and then converted it to BW in-camera. In photoshop, I placed the rectangles over the BW version, pasted the colored version on top, and created a clipping mask. The only other editing done was to Auto Contrast the two photos and add in the tag/quote. Sharpening was done in-camera. :-)

The bottom one is the usual kind of color splash, but again both versions of the photo were made in-camera. I hope you enjoy today's photos.
